  • Originally from Calgary where she graduated from the University of Calgary with a Bachelor of Kinesiology, Sarah-Beth has a strong back round in sports and fitness. She grew up playing softball, curling, and volleyball, competing for 5 years on the University of Calgary Dinos Softball team.

    After a brief 4 years living in Perth, Australia, where she taught fitness classes including F45, female-only groups and 1-on-1 sessions, she now calls Fernie home.

    She loves working with athletes, former athletes, beginners, and those looking to build strength to continue doing the sports and activities they love without limitations.

  • Blair Crosby is the owner of Carbon Fitness and Strength Training Gym, bringing over 15 years of professional experience in fitness and personal training. His expertise spans general fitness improvement, body composition, strength training, and post-rehabilitation exercises for individuals recovering from injury.

    Blair’s training philosophy is rooted in science-backed methods and a personalized, results-driven approach. He ensures that every client receives professional guidance tailored to their unique goals—whether it’s regaining mobility after an injury, building strength, or optimizing performance. His coaching style emphasizes education, movement efficiency, and long-term progress, helping clients not just train but understand their bodies and build lasting strength.

    A lifelong learner, Blair has completed certifications through the BCRPA, CHEK Institute, Kilo Education, and the Canadian Centre for Strength and Conditioning, and has studied advanced stretching techniques under Kit Laughlin. His diverse background allows him to develop individualized training strategies that enhance movement, prevent injury, and maximize results.

    Over the years, Blair has helped countless individuals achieve transformations, from athletes pushing their limits to everyday people improving their strength and reclaiming their active lifestyles. His professional approach has empowered clients to excel in sports, recover from injuries, and develop a lifelong commitment to fitness.

    When Blair took ownership of Carbon Fitness, his vision was to establish the premier strength training facility in Fernie—a gym that goes beyond standard workouts to deliver high-level coaching, specialized programming, and a top-tier training environment.

  • What membership options do you offer?
    We offer youth, adult, and senior memberships, with student discounts and short-term options available. Most memberships include 24/7 key card access, except for certain youth, student, and drop-in memberships. Our long-term memberships offer the best value.     Do you offer short-term or drop-in options?
    Yes! We offer one-week and two-week memberships, as well as single drop-in visits for those who need a flexible option.

    How do I sign up for a membership?
    All sign-ups are done in person at the gym. Stop by the front desk during staffed hours, and we’ll get you set up!

    Can I freeze or cancel my membership?
    We understand that things come up! Membership holds are available for a small fee, and cancellations require 30 days’ notice. Contact us for more details.

    What forms of payment do you accept?
    We accept credit cards, debit cards, and electronic funds transfers (EFTs).

    When are membership fees processed?
    Membership payments are processed on the 1st of each month. If a payment fails, we retry on the 15th and notify the member.

    Is there a sign-up fee?
    No! We believe in straightforward pricing with no hidden fees, so there are no initiation or transaction fees.

  • Is Carbon Fitness open 24/7?
    Yes! Most memberships include 24/7 access via key card, except for drop-in, youth, and some student memberships.

    Do you have showers and locker rooms?
    Yes! We provide showers, changing areas, and towel service for member convenience. While we don’t have lockers, storage cubicles are available for personal belongings during your workout.

    Can I bring a guest?
    Guests are welcome to purchase a drop-in pass or sign up for a short-term membership.

    Can I share my key card with a friend or family member?
    No. Key card access is non-transferable, and any unauthorized sharing may result in a suspension or cancellation of membership.

    What kind of equipment do you have?
    We provide top-tier strength and conditioning equipment, including free weights, power racks, cable machines, conditioning tools, and specialized strength equipment.

    Do you have cardio machines?
    Yes! We offer a selection of cardio machines, including treadmills, ellipticals, upright and recumbent bikes, a stair climber, rowing machines, and assault bikes to support endurance and conditioning.

  • Do you offer personal training?
    Yes! We provide one-on-one personal training, small group strength training, and program design. All training begins with a movement analysis to tailor a plan around your goals and any past or current injuries.

    How do I sign up for training?
    Speak to a staff member or contact us to book your movement analysis and consultation.

  • What is your policy on gym etiquette?
    We strive to maintain a clean, respectful training environment for everyone.

    We ask members to:
    - Wear clean indoor shoes
    - Wipe down equipment after use
    - Re-rack weights and replace equipment
    - Respect others' space and training time
    - Use proper lifting techniques for safety

    Do you have staff available at all times?
    Our front desk is staffed during set hours, but the gym is open 24/7 for members with key card access.

    What should I do if I have an issue with my key card or need assistance outside of staffed hours?
    If you experience any issues, please contact us during staffed hours or email us, and we will follow up as soon as possible.

    How does Carbon Fitness ensure cleanliness and hygiene?
    We have regular cleaning protocols in place and ask all members to wipe down equipment after use. Towel service is also provided for member convenience.

    What if there’s an emergency while I’m training alone?
    Our facility is monitored with cameras for security, and we advise all members to train responsibly and be aware of emergency exits. The gym is also equipped with a phone that can call 911 in case of emergency.
